Pick up your Summer Reading Club medal at the Library! You can visit the Information Desk to get your medal, or if you prefer to do curbside pickup, you can call 604-469-4577 when you are outside the building, and we will deliver your medal to you. Great job on all the reading you have done this summer!

Join the Kids' Summer Reading Club (SRC) at the Port Moody Public Library. This free, fun program keeps your readers reading and exploring our universe all summer long. By participating in the Kids’ SRC, your reader will be able to discover new books, get awesome reading recommendations, participate in virtual programming, and win a medal!

This year's theme is "Explore the Universe".

How do I register?

You can register in-person or online:

  • In-Person: You can pick up a self-directed SRC package from the Library. The package will have everything that you will need to run the program from home. You will be able to pick up a medal at the Library at the end of the summer.
  • Online: You can register online to do the program virtually at bcsrc.ca. Readers will receive digital badges for meeting their reading goals and will be able to pick up a medal at the Library at the end of the summer.

How does the Kids' Summer Reading Club work?

This summer we are making the SRC as easy and stress-free as possible! We recognize that things are different and have options to make sure everyone can enjoy the program in their own way. You can participate using a print SRC reading record or online or both.

Using a print SRC reading record

Step 1: Pick up your print SRC package from the Library

Stop by the Library during our hours (Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri, and Sat, 10am - 4:30pm, and Tue, 12:30pm - 7pm) to pick up your SRC package. The package will have everything you need: a reading record, stickers, bookmark, and trading cards. Instead of coming to the Library every week to check-in, you can run the entire program from your home.

Step 2: Set your reading goal.

Readers and their families can set their own reading goals that they want to achieve this summer. Here are some suggested goals:

  • 15 minutes of reading for 40 days
  • One picture book a day for 50 days
  • One chapter of a book a day for 40 days

We encourage a goal that incorporates regular, daily reading as research shows us that it is key to summer learning. If your reader completes their goal at the end of the summer, they will get a cool SRC medal!

Step 3: Keep track of your reading.

For every day of reading that your child does, write down the name of the book or page numbers in the reading record. Fill out the little bubble on top for each day of reading/goal met.

Step 4: Get a sticker.

When you have seven days of reading complete, your reader gets to choose a sticker to add to the back of the page.

Step 5: Receive a reading club medal.

Medals will be available to pick up in the library (or delivered via curbside pickup) after August 24.

    • This account will be used to keep track of their reading and collect the digital badges.

    • Enter their grade and school.
Please note: If you child is of preschool age, you will need to choose Grade: Other and type in "Other" for the School field.

Step 2: Set your reading goal.

Readers and their families can set their own reading goals that they want to achieve this summer. Here are some suggested goals:

  • 15 minutes of reading for 40 days
  • One picture book a day for 50 days

Every day you complete your reading goal, you can login to your account at bcsrc.ca and click the checkmark.

For every seven days of completing your reading goal, you will receive a digital badge.

(Please note that you will have to update each child's reading tracker separately.)

Step 4: Receive a completion badge and a reading club medal.

When you have unlock all seven digital badges (by completely 49 days of reading), you'll earn your digital completion badge and certificate.

Reading Club medals will be available to pick up from the Library (or delivered via curbside pickup) after August 24.
