We're now into spring, and some of us have taken our reading outside! Here are some of the books our staff at the Port Moody Public Library have been reading:
House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas (ebook) "The story of half-Fae and half-human Bryce Quinlan as she seeks revenge in a contemporary fantasy world of magic, danger, and searing romance. " Sadie has been reading this first book in the new Crescent City series.
The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams (ebook • audiobook) "Nashville Legends second baseman Gavin Scott's marriage is in major league trouble. With the help of a secret romance book club made up of Nashville's top alpha men and their current read, a steamy Regency titled Courting the Countess, the guys coach Gavin on saving his marriage." Ilene loves this book!
Frankly in Love by David Yoon (ebook • audiobook) "Two friends. One fake dating scheme. What could possibly go wrong?" Corene is enjoying this romantic coming-of-age story.
In the Shadow of Vesuvius by Tasha Alexander (print book) "When Emily discovers a body hidden in plain sight amongst the ruins of Pompeii, she sets in motion a deadly chain of events that ties her future to the fate of a woman whose story had been lost for nearly two thousand years." Corinne loves historical fiction but candidly told us that she's at the crossroads of whether or not to finish this book!
Wow, No Thank You by Samantha Irby (ebook • audiobook) "A new rip-roaring essay collection from the smart, edgy, hilarious, unabashedly raunchy, and bestselling Samantha Irby" Liz is enjoying this follow-up to We Are Never Meeting In Real Life.
In a Dark, Dark, Wood by Ruth Ware (ebook) "A weekend away deep in the English countryside takes a sinister turn in this suspenseful and compulsive debut psychological thriller." Fiona C. has had this book on her "for later" shelf for awhile and finally read it - within a couple of days!
Heather - If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha (ebook) "A riveting, feminist debut about four women navigating contemporary South Korea, a world of strict social hierarchies, extreme plastic surgery and K-pop fan mania." Heather has been really enjoying this title!
The Last Train to London by Meg Waite Clayton (ebook • audiobook) "A pre-World War II-era story centering on the Kindertransports that carried thousands of children out of Nazi-occupied Europe-and one brave woman who helped them escape to safety." Lynn is reading this emotional bestseller.
The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams (ebook • audiobook) Leanne is another fan of this heartwarming and romantic spin on book clubs.
Renelle - The Red Lotus by Chris Bohjalian (ebook • audiobook) "An American man vanishes on a rural road in Vietnam, and his girlfriend, an emergency room doctor trained to ask questions, follows a path that leads her home to the very hospital where they met." Renelle is reading this latest thriller by Bohjalian on the recommendation of her daughter.
Blood of an Exile by Brian Naslund (print book) "Bershad stands apart from the world, the most legendary dragonslayer in history, both revered and reviled. The king who sentenced Bershad to his fate has just given him an unprecedented chance at redemption. The journey will take him across dragon-infested mountains, through a seedy criminal underworld, and into a forbidden city guarded by deadly technology." Virginia is enjoying this first book in the Dragons of Terra series.
The Tombs of Atuan by Ursula K. Le Guin (ebook • audiobook) "Arha's isolated existence as high priestess in the tombs of Atuan is jarred by a thief who seeks a special treasure." Fiona W. says this is a dark and creepy fantasy that can be read as a standalone book, even though it is the second in the Earthsea series.
Death in St. Petersburg by Tasha Alexander (print book) "A gripping tale that will mesmerize fans of historical fiction and classic mysteries alike." Noreen is enjoying this 12th book in the Lady Emily Mysteries series.
The Moon Sister by Lucinda Riley (ebook • audiobook) "This sweeping and majestic tale transports you to the grandeur of the remote Scottish Highlands and Madrid torn apart by civil war as two women bound across time and distance search for the truth of their place in the world." Noreen is also reading this fifth book in the Seven Sisters series.
