We asked our staff for their favourite recipes that can be found online. For both sweet and savoury tastes, here’s what they said:
Award Winning Instant Pot Chilli Recipe from Oh, Sweet Basil
If you have an Instant Pot, this is a favourite chilli recipe. Our colleague highly recommends adding a chilli spice mix for extra flavour. You can also make a vegetarian version by removing the meat and adding vegetarian “ground meat” instead.
Banana Bread from Food Network
If you’re like our staff who always end up with extra bananas that have gone overly ripe, this recipe is for you. This Banana Bread is “foolproof“ and takes less than 15 minutes to prep, turning out great every time. Add mini chocolate chips if you’re feeling indulgent, but it is just as tasty without.
Bean and Turmeric One-Pot-Meal Soup from Ricardo Cuisine
Ricardo is a French Canadian chef and television personality. His cooking magazine was briefly available in English (sadly discontinued) but his recipes and videos are still available in English on his website. This is one of our staff member’s favourite vegetarian soup recipes. She promises you won’t miss the meat!
Cinnamon Doughnuts from Ricardo Cuisine
Delicious and easy to make, even without the chocolate sauce!
Easy Bagels from Skinnytaste
Skinnytaste, says a staff member, is one of the best online recipe sites, even if you’re not trying to lose weight. Gina Homolka, the author, makes it easy to search recipes for gluten free, vegetarian, paleo, keto, dairy-free, slow cooker, under-30 minutes, and more. The best part? Her recipes use readily accessible ingredients. Healthy, easy eating! This particular recipe would be fun to make with your children. The dough is easy to handle and foolproof. The photo is my last batch of bagels.
Instant Pot Lentil Curry from Well Plated
This was one colleague’s first-ever Instant Pot recipe. It’s very easy to do, with mostly pantry items, and can be adapted for the stovetop. It tastes amazing and the really great thing is that the leftovers can sit in the fridge and be used as a dip or spread on bread. Hot or cold, either way it is a thrill to find it in your fridge when you need a snack.
Masala Chai from Minimalist Baker
The Masala Chai recipe is a great one for this time of year and uses good health promoting fresh ginger as well as dry spices.
Masaman Curry from Minimalist Baker
Minimalist Baker recipes are simple, require less than 10 ingredients and take less than 30 minutes to prepare. The Masaman curry is a fusion of Thai and Indian style curries, can be made in one pot and also adapted for vegetarians.
