Series by Jin Kobayashi
One of my favourite high school romantic comedies! A classic slice-of-life manga about high school crushes, featuring a large cast of lovable and eccentric characters. The heroine, cheerful yet unremarkable Tenma, has a crush on Karasuma, who is eccentric and enigmatic. Meanwhile, Harima, the school's resident delinquent, is pining over Tenma, and chaos and misunderstandings ensue. School Rumble abandons realism and embraces chaos and comedy, making it a fun change-of-pace from typical high school romances that would appeal to any type of reader. One of the funniest series I have ever read.
Series by K. O'Neill
Author and illustrator K. O'Neill is a master of cozy and heartwarming fantasy graphic novels. In The Tea Dragon Society series (and its companion card game), readers are introduced to adorable tea dragons and the people who love and care for them. All books in the series have wonderful LGBTQ+ representation and messages of found family. Great for kids in grades 3 and up.
Series by Mokumokuren
Hikaru and Yoshiki are teenage boys and best friends living in a small town in rural Japan. While hiking in the mountains near their town, Hikaru disappears, and whatever returns from the mountain looks like Hikaru, and sounds like Hikaru, but definitely isn't Hikaru. Whatever it is, it's dangerous, but Yoshiki can't part with his "best friend", regardless of how dangerous he may be. A creepy and unnerving new horror manga with incredible illustrations and authentic characters.
Series by Kafka Asagiri
A favourite of many staff members here at the Library. This series has everything: villains and crime fighters with their own unique supernatural abilities, slice-of-life workplace comedy, and loads of literary references! All of the characters (and their supernatural abilities) are named after real-life authors and their books. If you're looking for a fast-paced, exciting action-adventure with a unique magic system and a lovable cast of characters, look no further. Milk and Mocha share their sweet slice-of-life moments in this new collection. Milk and Mocha are charming bears with opposite personalities - Milk is silly and energetic, and Mocha is calm and pensive. These uplifting comics of Milk and Mocha's adventures remind us of the sweet moments we share with our friends, family, and loved ones. A sweet read, great for all ages!
