We’re pleased to share that last week, Port Moody City Council endorsed the Library Facility Master Plan and Functional Program Reports, agreeing to include the proposed new library project in future Civic Facilities Roadmap discussions.
This marks an exciting milestone for our community and an important step toward planning the future of library services in Port Moody. The Master Plan and Functional Programs outline a 25-year vision for a modern, three-tier library system designed to meet the needs of a growing and diverse population through 2050.
This endorsement signals strong support for continued planning and exploration. The Master Plan envisions a new Central Library facility as the heart of a long-term system that would also include a community branch and smaller express service points in neighbourhoods across the city.
We’re proud that our planning process, shaped by more than 940 residents and 13 community leaders, reflects Port Moody’s shared values: inclusion, accessibility, and community connection.

This is just the beginning of an exciting journey. Together, we can help shape a library system that reflects the community, creativity, and aspirations of Port Moody.
